Frequently Asked Questions
Can you give me quote over the phone?
We can supply a general estimate of your costs, but every move is like a bespoke suit as it depends on many things; the type of property, the volume of goods to move, the number of days and staff required, the mileage and our customers personal requirements. Even the walk from the front door can affect the cost! It is always best to arrange a personal visit by one of our representatives. Our quotes are entirely free!
When should I Contact a removal company to arrange a visit?
We would suggest that you contact us at least 4-6 weeks before your anticipated move date. Don't leave it until you exchange, as the time between exchange and completion can be quite short.
What areas do you cover?
For personal calls by our Estimator, we cover an area of about 20 miles around Aylesbury including Buckingham, High Wycombe and Bicester. If you are moving from further away but into our area, please complete our Get an Estimate page and we can quote you from there.
For removals, we cover the whole of the UK, with trade contacts for Europe and overseas.
How much notice do you require to book my move?
In truth? As much as possible. A lot depends on the time of year and the day in the month. For the example, house moving in the summer is generally busier than other times of the year and Fridays, especially at the end of the month, tend to be more popular. In the situation of house sales and purchases firm bookings for moving house can only be made on exchange of your house sale/purchase and we would suggest at least 2 weeks' notice if possible. European removals may need up to 4 weeks notice. Unfortunately we do not accept provisional bookings, although we are happy to speak to you at any time about our current availability.
How do I book my move?
Bookings are carried out on a first come, first serve basis. Once you have exchanged, telephone our office to confirm that we have the space and resources available. You will then need to complete and return your Acceptance Form (and Insurance Précis form too if you want to buy our insurance cover) to be received as soon as possible after your initial call, either by post, fax or email. We will then write and confirm the booking of your removal dates and send you our invoice. In the event that you book with less than 4 working days notice we would ask that you bring the paperwork to our office and make full payment at that time.
How do I pay for the move?
For a direct removal, payment is required prior to the move. Payment can be by cash, cheque, BACS or debit/credit card. For payments by cheque, or BACS removal clients must settle their invoices in cleared funds, which is normally about 4 working days prior to the move. We accept credit or debit card payments up to the day before the move. For removals into store the first invoice would generally be raised after collection. Clients then have up to 14 days in which to settle the invoice. Ongoing storage is payable in advance and can be set up on a quarterly or calendar monthly schedule to suit. We can also arrange for Standing Orders to be set up for storage clients if they wish. For removals from store, again all outstanding invoices must be paid in cleared funds prior to delivery.
What about insurance cover?
All quotations include our "All Risks" insurance cover against accidental damage or physical loss of goods. Full details are sent out with every quote. You are not obliged to take our cover if you have other alternatives e. g. your own household cover. We can always quote to exclude the premium. However if you intend to come into store, if you are using your own insurance company, please check that they will cover your goods whilst in store. Many do not and if you have not purchased our insurance cover, our basic contact conditions would exclude any damage by fire.
What size vehicles do you operate?
We have a range of purpose built vehicles from 3.5 to 17 ton to cover all sizes of house moving and to cope with difficult accesses. We also have vehicles that can operate in the new London Low Emission Zone.
What size are your storage containers?
The containers are 8ft H x 7ft D x 5ft W, to hold approximately 250 cubic feet or 7 cubic metres
