British Association of Removers

The B.A.R

Robinsons is proud to be a member of the British Association of Removers. It is the largest and most recognised association in the removal industry.

Over the years, the B.A.R. has brought many advantages to both the remover and customer.

Some of the most important changes for the consumer have seen the introduction of contract conditions that have been drawn up to be fair and reasonable in accordance with European and UK legislation.. They are easier to understand and provide a recognised procedure for consumer disputes.

The B.A.R. sets out standards of customer care and offers a free Conciliation Service to ensure fair play and satisfaction to all parties should a dispute occur. The B.A.R. also makes sure that all members must offer a Minimum Standard of Insurance to their customers for removals and storage and Robinsons insurance scheme meets that standard.

Not only are members inspected every year but in order to uphold these principles, the B.A.R. has drawn up a Code of Practice for domestic removals that sets out the standards that members must comply with regarding service, fair trading, advertising and the handling of complaints. Compliance with the Code is a requirement for membership of the B.A.R. and it is approved by the Trading Standards Institute as shown on the logo.

The Code dictates the standard of service that you will receive, the quality of the materials used, the standards of vehicles and warehouses, staff training requirements and what will happen if something goes wrong. Most importantly the Code requires B.A.R. moving companies to deal with you in a courteous and sympathetic way at all times. The Code's purpose is to maintain and, where necessary, raise standards of practice so that private individuals within the UK will receive the most efficient and trouble-free moves possible.
